Traveling all over the world performing with so many talented musicians can be an exciting experience, but for Nate, it is more exhilarating using the gift of music to spread joy to the people who listen. Nate Winn hails from Detroit, and like many musicians from “the motor city”, he discovered his passion for drums in church. As a teenager, Nate began playing in the Jazz, Symphony, and Marching bands. He took his musicianship to another level by auditioning for the Detroit Civic Jazz Orchestra directed by jazz trumpeter Marcus Belgrave. The program consisted of high school and college musicians and was a product of the world renowned Detroit Symphonic Orchestra. He’s had the opportunity to work with some of the jazz world’s elite, such as Robert Hurst, Rodney Whitaker, Joshua Redman, Tia Fuller, Sean Jones, and Steve Turre. Nate attended Wayne State University as a music major.
