Student Spotlights

Edgar Duenas / The Fillmore Detroit

Edgar Duenas, 2016 Music Entrepreneurship graduate, applied and was accepted as an intern at the Fillmore Detroit in 2017.  He was quickly hired on as a staff member. After his first day on the job, Edgar wrote: “My first show at the Fillmore was a blast... It was amazing seeing how quickly the Fillmore team can set up and take down an entire show in such a short time. I look forward to working more concerts and can’t wait to see where the company will take me in the future!”

That opportunity certainly has helped Edgar to grow his professional network and resume, and he recently accepted a new position working for Zamora Live!, a booking agency in Michigan.

Intern Spotlight: Alex Murphy / JSB Squad Productions

Current Music Industry Studies Student, Alex Murphy, is consistently applying for internship opportunities and making great connections along the way.  After an internship with JSB Squad, Alex was hired on as Marketing Manager, leading on artist development.  In addition to that, he's also writing and recording his own music under the name Grainger.  Alex had this to say about his experience so far:

"I really want to make my mark in the music industry. It gives me such a rush to be working on the behalf of other artists and creating their vision. As for my own music, I am writing and recording new material, but I don’t know if my own music is my first priority as a career. I know that I want to keep doing my own music for myself, but I’m also collecting all of these other skills, so if I feel I do want to pursue a career as an artist I’ll have all these tools at my disposal."

Intern Spotlight: Ally Evenson / Axis Music

Current student vocalist, Ally Evenson, is better known for her incredible performances on the DIME stage.  However, she also has an interest in teaching music, and recently applied for and was selected as a new music instructor at Axis Music. We look forward to seeing Ally's career development as an instructor, performer, songwriter, and all around entertainer!

At DIME, we recognize that building a strong resume and portfolio career are the strongest assets we can provide for our students. Through our ever-expanding internship program, as well as additional networking and masterclass opportunities, we strive to provide each of our students with the opportunities that will help them find a creative network and become successful music entrepreneurs.
