Eric ‘Rain Man’ Gaston- Drums
There may not be a better drummer in the U.S. than Eric “Rain Man” Gaston. A graduate of Hampton University, Rain Man earned a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems while drumming at every possible opportunity. His bragging rights would fill a scroll longer than a football field, but the highlights include: Big Sean, Salt-N-Pepa, and a Latin Grammy nomination with Ana Tijoux, along with a recent tour with Charlie Wilson. He’s played the Google Lounge in New York City and ABC Channel 7 in Chicago with Eric Roberson, and you’ve probably danced to his rhythms at the Detroit International Jazz Festival (with Alexander Zonjic), or the Cincinnati Jazz Festival (with K’Jon), or the Mitch Albom Show.
When he’s not behind the kit making music, he’s an adept musical director. He is credited on Zeola Gaye’s “My Brother Marvin,” Derrick Brinkley’s “I Can’t Stop Loving You,” and The Stage Play. He has been a stage manager, tour manager, and a percussion instructor at Thomas M. Cooley High School in Detroit.
