Our summer programs are for ages 12-18 with some experience necessary. Students learn a song each day on guitar, bass, drums, or vocals, and then perform for friends and family at our venue.

Music
Our summer program focuses on contemporary, pop/rock songs, giving students the opportunity to learn key skills about stage presence, dynamics, and chops from industry professionals.
Instructors
Our instructors have years of experience in the modern music industry, and can begin to help students understand the in's and out's of performing commercial music to the highest standard.
Building Friendships
Former students of our summer program stay in touch, start bands, write songs together, and build lasting relationships through their love of music.

DIME's summer program was a one-of-a-kind experience. I’m so happy I participated, and now I can't wait to join the vocal program as a full-time student in Fall 2019!

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a typical day look like at a DIME Summer Program?
Students arrive at 10am and gather in a shared space to talk about the song of the day. We often watch live performance videos and discuss the song in great detail before splitting students into instrument groups. Each instrument group then works on the song until lunchtime. After lunch, students gather together for a live performance workshop of the song. The summer program ends at 4pm each day. On Friday, students arrive at 10am and will spend the day rehearsing the 4 songs they learned throughout the week until 3pm, when parents and friends arrive to watch their final performance!

What songs will we be performing?
We intentionally do not announce the summer program songs in advance of the first day of class.

How much does this program cost?
The cost for students registering before March 1st is $199. After March 1st, the cost will be $249 to register.

Is lunch provided?
No, DIME does not provide lunch. Students are encouraged to bring bagged lunches. We have a refrigerator and a microwave available.

Can my student leave DIME at lunch?
There are many restaurants serving lunch right outside of our building in Capitol Park. Students under the age of 18 are permitted to leave the premises at lunch if we have a signed parental consent form. Students that have signed parental consent must sign out before leaving the building, and sign back in when they return.

My student plays more than one instrument, what do we do?!
Students that play more than one instrument, or play an instrument and sing, still need to sign up for guitar, bass, drums, or vocals as a primary instrument. However, we will let the instructors know in advance that your student has additional talents, and we will do our best to utilize them where possible.

My student requires a special accommodation, what do I do?
Give us a call at 313-223-1600 or email us at info@dime-detroit.com so we can make arrangements to make sure your student has a comfortable and enjoyable experience here at DIME!
